NEISD teacher accused of having improper relationship with 17-year-old student, police say

Andrew McCown is an algebra teacher and also a football coach at Roosevelt High School.

SAN ANTONIO — A high school teacher was arrested after being accused of having an improper relationship with a teen student Tuesday afternoon, police say.

San Antonio Police took Andrew McCown, 27, into custody without incident.

McCown is an algebra teacher and also a football coach at Roosevelt High School.

Police say they were contacted in early March by North East ISD about a teacher having an improper relationship with a 17-year-old female student.

Detectives from the Special Victims Unit interviewed the victim and later tried to interview McCown. They say McCown did not want to cooperate with the investigation.

Police say the victim apparently talked about the relationship to classmates who then told school officials.

Investigators say the relationship started sometime in January.

NEISD placed McCown on administrative leave during the course of the investigation.

Detectives will also be contacting previous schools McCown worked for including Robinson High School in Robinson, Texas.

Police urge anyone who may be a victim to come forward and contact SAPD.

No other information was provided.
