One person dies in pursuit on northeast side overnight

The victim died at the scene on the northeast side where a crash occurred involving multiple vehicles around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

SAN ANTONIO — UPDATE: Cynthia Ann Demps, 55, was identified by the Medical Examiner's Office as being the victim who died in the crash.

A pursuit ended in a crash involving three vehicles ended around 1:30 a.m. on the northeast side with one person dead. According to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, one occupant in a vehicle died at the scene at the intersection of Fratt Road and Rittiman Road.

A preliminary report from BCSO said a male driver faces charges after refusing to stop, driving reckless, going the wrong way and speeding. 

BCSO said a deputy observed a grey Ford Focus driving recklessly as it sped, striking curbs. The driver refused to stop in the 7400 block of Tarrasa, which initiated a vehicle pursuit that spanned about three miles.

The report said, "It passed traffic lights and began to drive in the wrong direction. The grey vehicle drove into the wrong lane crashing into a semi mule and Toyota Camry. At this time, the Ford Focus driver was taken into custody, the semi driver is in good condition, and the Toyota driver is unresponsive. Medical was immediately requested, the scene was secured."

The driver of the Toyota died as a result.
