SAPD: Man and woman shot in suspected targeted attack while they slept

Investigators say a suspect in a vehicle drove up and fired off shots directly into the couple's bedroom, then took off.

SAN ANTONIO — A couple was asleep in their west-side home when they were hit by gunfire in a drive-by shooting early this morning.

San Antonio Police responded to Waverly Avenue on the west side of town for reports of a shooting in progeress just after midnight Sunday morning.

When police arrived they found a couple had been shot while asleep in their home. According to police,  the two adults were asleep in their home when a suspect in a vehicle pulled up and opened fire directly towards their bedroom they were sleeping in.

A woman in her 30s was hit once in the face and a man in his 30 was hit in the arm. Both victims were taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Police say there were also three children inside the home at the time. Thankfully, none were injured.

Police are still investigating what exactly happened. Police say the suspect fled in a vehicle after the shooting.

Officials say the children will be staying with family while the adults recover.

No other injuries were reported.

This is a developing story.
