BCSO: Man in custody after leading deputies on short foot pursuit in downtown area

A man identified as Raymond Gonzales, 25, was wanted on two warrants.

SAN ANTONIO — A man is in custody after leading Bexar County sheriff's deputies on a short foot pursuit in the downtown area Wednesday afternoon, authorities say.

The incident happened off W Martin Street near W Houston Street around 1 p.m.

Deputies spotted a man identified as Raymond Gonzales, 25, who was wanted on multiple felony warrants including assault on a peace officer and drug possession.

Authorities say Gonzales took off on foot towards a nearby neighborhood when he saw the deputies.

Witnesses say they saw Gonzales running in the alleyways near their house.

According to BCSO, K-9 deputy Smokey quickly found him hiding underneath a house and sometime during the arrest Smokey bit Gonzales. Deputies also tased Gonzales. He was treated by EMS for the dog bite.

Gonzales was taken to the Bexar County jail and booked. It is unclear if he will face additional charges after running from deputies.
