Take a bite out of the ‘Windy City’ at this northside SA restaurant | Neighborhood Eats

If you want to travel to Chicago – you won’t have to travel far – ‘A Chicago Bite’ is located outside Loop 1604.

SAN ANTONIO — ‘A Chicago Bite’ is embarking on their third year in business – and they want as many people to taste the food that reminds Chicagoans of home.

Getting her business out the mud is Krystal Cross.

“Things don’t come easy in Chicago,” Cross said. “It’s a hustle mentality. I love to make people happy through food. I’ve always been that way I had no idea it would be on this large scale.”

Krystal Cross was a teacher and assistant principal for 17 years before moving from Chicago to the Alamo City. Her son was the main reason her family moved.

“Give him a better chance at life without having to worry about the stressors that the city life in Chicago causes," Cross said.

The move had her leaving the classroom – for the kitchen. The grit that Cross has earned over the years is evident in her dishes.

“That’s what I have gained from Chicago, is that hustle and struggle and endurance to not give up,” Cross said.

Cross recommends trying the authentic Chicago dog dressed in neon green Chicago -style relish, the beef polish, open face Italian beef, wings with mild sauce and the soul food staple – catfish.

Be sure to visit: ‘A Chicago Bite’ at 2339 E Evans Rd #106, San Antonio, TX 78259
