HS FOOTBALL: Saturday night playoff tripleheader highlights

Nothing says playoff high school football in Texas like a quarterfinals tripleheader at the Alamodome!

Nothing says playoff high school football in Texas like a quarterfinals tripleheader at the Alamodome.

The football kicked off early at 10 AM, with the Wagner Thunderbirds squaring off against Mission Vets Memorial. The Thunderbirds got off to an early start as well, taking a 14-0 lead in the 1st quarter. Wagner wins easily 54-21 and heads to its first-ever Final Four in program history.

The undefeated Judson Rockets were hoping to get past the Lake Travis Cavaliers and clinch a spot in the semi-finals. The game was tied early in the second quarter before Lake Travis took the lead and momentum before halftime. The Rockets played a bit sloppy Saturday, and Lake Travis took advantage, winning 38-21 over Judson.

The Brandeis Broncos earned their last matchup of the evening against Austin-Westlake. The Broncos would have to play its best brand of football if they were to topple one of the best programs in the state. And while the defense did its job for most of the night, Brandeis could get nothing going offensively. Westlake controlled the game from start to finish, and the Broncos get blanked 26-0.
