SAN ANTONIO — A Calhoun County Sheriff's Office van transporting an inmate was involved in a three-vehicle crash on the city's far west side Wednesday morning.

The accident happened just before 10:30 a.m. at Loop 1604 and Highway 90 in Bexar County.

Preliminary information showed the sheriff's van may have gone through a red light before hitting two other cars. Officials say an inmate in the van had a minor head injury and was taken to the hospital as a precaution. A woman in one of the other cars was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Calhoun County is located on the Texas Gulf Coast near Port Lavaca.

It is not clear where the sheriff's van was headed.
