Gunfire strikes San Antonio home in separate shootings on Christmas and New Year's

"It doesn't even feel safe in my own space," said Grace Villarreal, who was grateful nobody was hit.

SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio family's home is now left with bullet holes inside. Grace Villarreal said it happened twice during the holidays, just days apart.

"It doesn't even feel safe in my own space," she said.

For 20 years, Villarreal has lived at her south side home that her dad helped build. It is located near Palo Alto Road off Coconino Drive.

"This is home to us," she said. "We have built on this a lot of blood, sweat and tears that was put into this house."

For the first time, she said she is feeling uneasy because of what has happened not once, but twice. She said the first incident happened Christmas Day just after celebrating with family.

"Bullet came through the sliding door, straight to the wall, into another room," she said. "Just 20 minutes before that happening, all the children my nieces and nephews were sitting right there."

Days later, on New Year's Eve another bullet came through, but this time a kitchen window was broken.

"We heard the glass break," she said. "We ran for cover and ran to the front of the house and stayed there with my mom."

Villarreal doesn't know who is responsible.

"They don't think about these consequences, of these things, that are so unpredictable."

The family doesn't know if it is celebratory gunfire, which officials warn people of doing since there are consequences. She just wants people to be more careful.

"Had it been any sooner, it would have hurt somebody," she said. "But, God is always on time because we always put our faith in him."

The family filed two reports with San Antonio Police, who tell KENS 5 they're investigating.
