'It was scary' | Southtown homeowners describe creepy encounters with unwanted guests

Two homeowners describe the moment a man trespassed onto their property. In one instance, he opened a teenage girl's window.

SAN ANTONIO — Two homeowners in Southtown are concerned after creepy encounters with suspected trespassers this week.

Early Thursday morning, San Antonio Police were called out to a home off East Guenther Street to a report of a home invasion.

“I wake up at 1:30 and my daughter is screaming,” the homeowner said. “She’s in her bedroom and she’s just screaming, blood curling screaming get out, get out, get out.”

The mother ran to her room but the man had fled. This is the second time in three days, she said someone broke into their home. The first time she admitted, they left a door unlocked.

She said her daughter was on the couch this time and saw a man.

“I went and I saw the guy in the driveway, and he triggered the neighbors lights and cameras,” she said.

The family made sure to lock all the doors. They even ordered security cameras. But they did not check the windows. On Thursday morning, she said someone opened her daughter’s bedroom window.

“She claims she caught him halfway in and halfway out of the window, but she said she saw both guys because both nights she saw them standing over her when she was asleep,” the mother said.

Police came out quickly and began investigating. But just about thirty minutes later, they got a call from a homeowner three blocks away.

Cristina Bazaldúa was getting ready for bed when she noticed a shadow of a man outside her bedroom glass doors. She lives off Mission Street.

“What I saw was a figure of a man looking at my window, looking through my bedroom door,” Bazaldúa said.

She turned on her lights inside and called 9-1-1. Police came almost right away. She said they were looking to see if the two incidents were related.

Fortunately, her neighbor’s camera caught the man hopping her fence to go to the backyard.

“It was scary because it’s really like two feet from where I’m sleeping to the outside,” Bazaldúa said.

Both homeowners are in communication and hoping police can catch these people.

“I don’t know how I’m going to sleep tonight," The East Guenther Street homeowner said.

The SAFFE Unit notified Bazaldúa that they will increase patrols in the area.

“It was a restless night to say the least,” Bazaldúa said.
