Man in critical condition after being shot in the chest, SAPD says

Police were responding to reports of a crash when they discovered the victim had been shot in the chest.

SAN ANTONIO — Police are investigating after they responded to an accident that turned out to be a shooting on the east side of town.

San Antonio Police responded to the 4100 block of Terron Road near Roland Avenue around 9:40 p.m. Monday for reports of an accident.

When officers arrived at the location, they found a gunshot victim with a wound to his chest.  He was taken to BAMC in critical condition.

Police were actually responding to a call for a crash when they discovered the victim in the crashed truck had been shot.

According to a police sergeant at the scene, the victim was driving around the corner at a high rate of speed when he crashed into a fence and tree.

Witnesses told police that the suspect pulled up next to the victim in a black Dodge Durango and started arguing with both the victim and his passenger in the truck. When the suspect heard first responders coming, police say he shot the driver in the chest and drove away.

No other injuries were reported.

No description was provided of the suspect. This investigation remains ongoing.
