Local tattoo studio vandalized for a second time, police search for the 'night owl' responsible for damages

The community has rallied together to help fix the damage and support the business owners.

SAN ANTONIO — A tattoo shop on the city's west side has been vandalized for a second time.

On Tuesday morning employees at the Nite Owl Tattoo Studio, on the 1800 block of Fredericksburg Road near Zarzamora Street arrived to their front door to find it damaged.

“We did get broken into the other night, and it was in the wee hours of the morning,” said Monica Marquez.

The shop was previously broken into last Easter, and the business has cameras but the lights in front of the store were turned off. In the images captured, you can see a shopping cart, something that was left behind by the vandal.

“There was a shopping cart full of junk, and we’re assuming that’s what busted out the window,” said Marquez.

We spoke with another business owner, who did not want to go on camera, but confirmed the shopping cart was used to damage the door.

While police investigate the vandalism, the complex's maintenance worker, Danny Nichols says in this shopping center the homeless have also become a big problem.

“They’re doing their business on the ground and people like me got to clean it up, and it’s really sad for the businesses, so people are starting to shy and go other places, because they don’t want to deal with it,” said Nichols.

The Nite Owl will now be upgrading it's security system. The owner says the community has rallied around them to help fix the damage.

“Our community really does support us a whole bunch. I know she (owner) was doing a raffle for a tattoo and it sold out within like 30 minutes, so she did offer a second one. It just it shows us a lot of support, and that's really what keeps us going, that love and support," said Marquez.
