Fire destroys abandoned home just north of downtown, SAFD says

Nobody was injured in the fire.

SAN ANTONIO — A fire destroyed an abandoned homenear downtown early Tuesday monring, according to firefighters.

San Antonio firefighters responded to the 1600 block of North Alamo Street near I-35 and Broadway just after 3 a.m. for reports of a fire.

When first responders arrived at the home, flames were shooting from the roof of the structure. According to SAFD, the fire started in the middle of the home and then spread to the roof.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly, and because it was an abandoned home, nobody was inside or injured while battling the blaze.

Officials say this is the second time within 24 hours that crews have been out to the home for a fire call.

This is a developing story.
