'No regard for human life' | BCSO arrests second murder suspect in October 2022 shooting

Handcuffed and smiling, 17-year-old Isaac Gonzales was taken into custody. Deputies say two teens killed an innocent woman during a targeted attack on a rival gang.

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — On Tuesday, a murder suspect was arrested for the second time.

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) Gang Unit caught the fugitive while he was in the process of filming a Facebook live to let people know he was about to be arrested, Sheriff Javier Salazar said.

Below is a video provided by BCSO of Isaac Gonzales, 17, cuffed and smiling as he's led away from an apartment complex. Gonzales can be heard laughing and bragging that he will "get out on another bond."

Gonzales and a 15-year-old accomplice are accused of shooting up a house on Bald Mountain Drive during a targeted attack on a rival gang last year. According to investigators, the teens sprayed more than 100 rounds into the wrong home.

Novita Brazil, 25, was shot and instantly killed. A 41-year-old Airbnb guest was also injured, authorities say.

“We were able to catch up to [the murder suspects]," said Salazar. "But not before these suspects; driving a stolen Kia, dumped out several handguns and a small assault-style rifle.”

The teens were certified as adults and put behind bars, the sheriff told KENS 5. However, the two recently made bond.

"Then both of them cut off their ankle monitors," Salazar said. "We've been literally [working] around the clock looking for these folks."

BCSO worked alongside the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force to find the suspects.

Investigators say the teens were on the run for several weeks and were possibly together at times. Deputies arrested the 15-year-old suspect a few days ago, according to the sheriff.

Salazar says they tracked Gonzales down after he posted a picture of several guns on social media with the caption "Tell everyone at gang unit I said catch me."

“These are just, in my opinion, blood thirsty young heathens with no regard for human life," said Salazar. "They have thumbed their nose at the law every step of the way. I’m happy we were able to put him behind bars.”

Both suspects have been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and murder. Salazar says they will be tried as adults.

The families knew police were looking for the teens but went out of their way to lie to law enforcement, Salazar said.

According to Salazar, Gonzales's sister was arrested for harboring a fugitive. Salazar believes the 15-year-old suspect was also being hidden by his mother and says she will be charged soon.

When asked if this uptick in violence is becoming a trend Salazar said, " It looks like it's going to get worse before it gets better."
