4-year-old dies after being hit by vehicle Tuesday night, police say

Officials say the young boy had left his apartment without supervision and was trying to cross the street to play at a park when he was hit.

SAN ANTONIO — A 4-year-old has died from their injuries after being hit by a vehicle while trying to cross the street from their west-side apartment to play at a park, police say.

San Antonio Police responded to the 400 block of North General McMullen near Rosedale Park around 6:23 p.m. Tuesday for reports of an major accident involving a vehicle hitting a child.

When first responders arrived at the location, they found the 4-year-old, Zayden Alex Francis, critically injured. Zayden was taken to a hospital where he eventually succumbed to his injuries, according to officials.

Police say the 4-year-old had left his apartment without supervision and was trying to cross the street to play at a park when he was hit. He reportedly made it across the first time but when he tried to re-cross the street he was hit.

SAPD says the person who was driving stopped to render aid, so no charges are pending.
