Child Advocate's San Antonio upgrades officially unveiled | Forever Family

Local gifts help CASA go next level.

SAN ANTONIO — CASA CEO Angie White said she was excited! "CASA has reimagined a 22,300 square foot building and a two point nine acre campus," she said.

It has been an amazing run for Child Advocate's San Antonio (CASA) W.W. White Road campus thanks to the Holt Family and local philanthropist Harvey Najim who gifted the organization one million dollars for the remodel. It will allow CASA to already do what they have been, but in this case, simply even better.

"With excellence," said White. "We want advocates to be able to come here and support each other and for advocates to bring the children here. We have a library, a teaching kitchen, a shop (clothing and toy store), an art room and a beautiful playground."

White reiterated that the campus is secure since that psychological security for children within the child welfare system is so important.

"It has been a journey taking about two years to get here with about ten months in construction," said White.

We also had the opportunity to visit with Mr. Najim about his generosity towards CASA.

"Bexar County has the highest number of children that have been removed from the home due to abuse and neglect,' he said. "This is what this place does. This helps these children overcome that. It helps them to either get into a foster home that will take care of them. It makes sure the past goes away. They can see that things are gonna get better for them. This is a beautiful place."

White said the entire plan was to help more advocates help more children.

"We want our kids to come here, feel safe, play, relax, experience joy and just be a kid."

Harvey said that when he established his foundation in 2007, he made a faith commitment to do all he could to help children.

"Children are the future of cities, the future of states and the future of the country."
