12-year-old Miss Jaelyn searching for her 'Forever Family'

Hill Country foster child hoping for her own mom and dad.

SAN ANTONIO — This week we journeyed up to Kerrville, Texas to meet Hill Country youth Jaelyn, and the first thing we learned was how much she loves to be in the kitchen!

"I love to bake and cook," she said. "I help my staff cook all the time," she continued. "I bake cookies and cupcakes," she said. That's when I told her she was talking my language! She told us her favorite flavor was chocolate!

It was easy to see, from the very beginning, that Jaelyn has just the sweetest nature you'll ever find. She's very kind and caring, and was really comfortable visiting during our on-camera interview. The 12-year-old foster child is excited for her June birthday because she'll be a teenager! I asked what she was gonna do for her birthday? "If I stay at the youth ranch they're gonna do a party for me," she said. She told us hopefully a themed party!

We talked about lots of things, and I asked Jaelyn what makes her happy in her young life. "I like being outside in the world," she said. "I also like going shopping with my ten dollar allowance." She was able to save up for four weeks and have forty dollars to spend! And she's hoping to save again and have a fun spa day! "I'm trying to get my nails done with my staff. I like doing spa days!"

We eventually got down to business in the interview when I asked Jaelyn if she's thought much about having her own 'Forever Family'. "It would be like my real mom and dad like I had before," she said. "Just have fun and a live a happy everlasting life," she added. She actually asked me if that's the way they say that. I said it sure it! That made her happy! "I just want a mom and dad that actually loves me," she said.

Jaelyn told us she's hopeful that finding her 'Forever Family' will happen because her behaviors have changed. "People will want me more," she said. She told us she's doing good things these days! I said you're feeling happy and healthy? She said yup. "I just wanna live a happy life with my family," she said.
