Spurs give a thumbs up to new City Edition jerseys, In-Season Tournament court

"I really enjoyed them," said Sochan about the team's new City Edition jerseys.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs played their first In-Season Tournament game against the Timberwolves Friday night at the Frost Bank Center.

The tournament is the NBA's newest idea to spice up the regular season but it also introduced new-look courts for tournament games.

The Spurs debuted their In-Season Tournament court and it showcased the city's Tower of the Americas at the center court, a thick yellow stripe, the tournament trophy, and a green and yellow colorway to represent the 55th anniversary of the World’s Fair in San Antonio: Hemisfair.

It certainly was a very unique look but the players enjoyed hooping on it after getting acclimated to it.

"I'm not going to lie, it was weird," said Cedi Osman. "Obviously, we're not used to that kind of court but I think it's one of the best if you ask me."

All NBA teams have revealed their alternate courts and some can strain the eye. With bold, and vibrant colors, many In-Season courts have been met with mixed reactions from the fanbase.

Even from Osman who admitted he saw the other team's new courts and felt they were "weird."

"There were a couple of courts that I didn't like but overall I like ours," he said.

"In pictures, the court looks way different than when you see it in person. In person it's fire. It looks good," Jeremy Sochan said.

It just wasn't the team debuting the new court.

The players wore the new City Edition jerseys and warmups.

The uniforms feature brown warm-up suits to pair with the new white and orange jerseys aimed to recall the feel of 1970s Hemisfair.

And the players opined the uniforms had a good look.

"The jerseys looked really nice. I liked our colors," Osman said.

Said Sochan, "The jerseys are fire too. I really enjoyed them."

Spurs fans had mixed feelings about the new court and uniforms but at the game, there was a sea of fans wearing the new City Edition jerseys and gear.

The next time the Spurs will wear the City Edition jerseys and play on the new court will be on Nov. 17 against the Kings.
