SAN ANTONIO — If prized Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama's preseason curtain-raiser in Oklahoma City was impressive for how much raw talent he flashed, his home preseason debut back at Frost Bank Center on Friday night – a 120-104 win over the defending Eastern Conference champions Miami Heat – was even more thrilling for how he maintained the hype.

From the opening moments of the game, the 19-year-old, 7-foot-3 Wembanyama was a force to be reckoned with. And when in sync with Devin Vassell, the future of the Silver & Black looked even brighter.

Friday also marked Jeremy Sochan's preseason debut, his explosiveness setting Wembanyama up for high-flying finishes at the basket.

Wembanyama would finish with a team-leading 23 points to go along with four rebounds, four assists and three blocks while shooting 67% from the field. Vassell, San Antonio's new $146 million man, tallied 21 points and three assists while going a scorching 6-of-7 from beyond the arc.

San Antonio stays at home for two matchups against the Houston Rockets next week before finishing up the preseason slate at Golden State on Oct. 20.
