They made Lotería for millennials, complete with 'El Tinder' card, and we can't stop laughing

Imagine the look on your abuelos' faces as you try to explain the 'El Tinder' card.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Like many San Antonians, I have no sweeter memories than gathering around with my primos for an exciting game of Lotería.

The first time my Tía Mary handed me a Lotería board and a handful of pinto beans I was 6-years-old and very confused by both the words on the card (while my mom is Hispanic, I was raised in a non-Spanish speaking home) and the beans.

However, as I spent more time playing the classic 'Mexican Bingo' game with my family, I not only learned the purpose of the beans, what "La Dama" and "La Bota" meant and how to roll my R's when I shouted "¡Lotería!", but I also learned the importance of spending time with family annnnnd that you have to double-check everyone's card (I'm looking at you Chris)!

While the classic Lotería will never go out of style, Mike Alfaro, a writer, and creative director out of California thought it could use a bit of a facelift.

Enter Millienial Lotería

With cards like 'La Selfie' replacing 'La Sirena' and 'El Global Warming' replacing 'El Sol', Alfaro is seeking to engage a new generation with the hilarious and relatable content.

According to Alfaro's website, he created the series "to combat outdated Hispanic stereotypes and bring a more modern and relevant representation of Hispanic-Americans and their daily lives."

The game, which is a hit amongst, you guessed it--- millennials, includes 46 cards with more hilarious depictions like 'El Man Bun,' 'La Succulent' and 'El Tinder', 10 boards, 80 bitcoin tokens, and a collectible Millenial Lotería pin.

Regardless if you're playing the classic Lotería or the millennial version, the purpose is the same. To have some laughs, maybe a margarita or two, and live your best life with la gente que amas.

Millennial Lotería is available at Urban Outfitters and on Amazon.

And speaking of classics, don't miss your chance to grab a collectible cup featuring the "Queen of Cumbia"!
