SAN ANTONIO — Southbound U.S. 281 at St. Mary's is back open as of about 4:25 p.m. Monday afternoon after a tractor trailer lost a load of gravel on the roadway, creating a large mess that forced traffic to divert for at least three hours.
The gravel could be seen spilled onto a large swatch of the highway shortly before 2 p.m. as cleaning crews arrived to begin cleaning up.
There's no details on what led to the spill.
