San Antonio personal trainer weighs in on how to achieve fitness goals in 2024

Getting fit is a popular New Year's resolution every year but meeting those goals takes disciple, according to one personal trainer.

SAN ANTONIO — Many people look at the new year as a new opportunity to get in shape. Often, people don’t stick with their fitness goals.

Personal trainer and owner of Team Bora Athletics, Felix Tambora, said it is important to at least take that first step.

“My best advice is to get started,” Tambora said.  “Even just starting off with just walking in the park.”

He said for 2024 he has a motto already picked out – the year of no excuses. He said it is important while on a new fitness journey, to be patient and don’t expect results right away.

“Stop looking for a temporary goal, make it a lifestyle and you just go day by day working towards your goals,” Tambora said.

He said it is not all about working out. Tambora said it is important to create healthy eating habits and avoid fad diets.

“I highly recommend people get rid of the thought process of dieting and make healthy choices,” Tambora said.

He said if you are nervous about going to a gym, remember not to compare yourself to others.

“Put your blinders on and go in and say, look, the only person I’m concerned about is me, it’s me vs me,” Tambora said.
