Man recovering from attack by alleged robber he took on a date, BCSO says

Deputies say the woman wanted $2,000 dollars and when she didn't get it the situation became extreme.

SAN ANTONIO — A Bexar County man is recovering this morning from an attack by an alleged robber he took on a date. Deputies say the woman wanted $2,000 and when she didn't get it the situation became extreme.

Bexar County deputies say the 61-year-old victim met 26-year-old Kaley Medina on the site 'Seeking Arrangements' and investigators say when he couldn't accommodate her arrangement, the encounter turned criminal.

"My understanding about this cite, it's sort of a dating cite. Where looking at the cite itself, it is where beautiful people and wealthy people get together," said Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar. "What it appears to be is... for lack of a better term, sugar daddy type cites where people with money meet up with younger people that need money and make some sort of an arrangement."

An arrest warrant says she met the victim on a dating website last month and the two communicated for two weeks before going out to dinner on Veterans Day.

There were no issues and they allegedly agreed to stay in contact. The victim says Medina showed up at his house Tuesday morning at 2:30 a.m. They had wine and talked when the Medina asked for $2,000 dollars, according to deputies.

Investigators say that when he told Medina he didn't have the money, she destroyed a flatscreen TV, entertainment center, custom painting and walls in the house.

Deputies say when he asked Medina to stop she poured laundry detergent over his head. The victim had to crawl out screaming for help as detergent got into the man's eyes.

"My understanding is it actually caused some pretty severe chemical burns to his eyes and incapacitated him," said Salazar. "The suspect began to ransack the apartment, destroying things but also stealing his passport, ID, an Apple Pro Max iPhone, a surveillance camera and a Dyson hair dryer."

Salazar then said Medina left the apartment and the victim was able to "crawl out and cry for help at which point one of his neighbors heard him."

The neighbor called the Bexar County Sheriff's Office and the victim was taken to the hospital for chemical burns to his eyes.

Medina is now facing a robbery charge.
