New San Antonio facility will add 1,500 jobs, city says

JCB, Inc. will build the new facility to produce telescopic handlers and aerial work platforms in San Antonio.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio will soon be adding more than 1,000 jobs with a new facility producing construction equipment.

JCB, Inc. will build the new facility to produce telescopic handlers and aerial work platforms in San Antonio. The project is expected to create more than $265 million in capital investment. It is also expected to bring more than 1,500 jobs to the Alamo City through 2028.

The company is also receiving a grant of more than $5 million from the Texas Enterprise Fund and a bonus of $42,000 for creating jobs specifically for veterans.

City and state leaders joined company officials for an event Friday to celebrate the new facility.

"Today, we celebrate the world’s largest, privately-owned construction, agricultural, and industrial equipment manufacturer joining our San Antonio community," said San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg.

"JCB is the latest win for Bexar County’s advanced manufacturing industry," said Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai. "With Toyota, Navistar, and now JCB, we can’t overstate the impact of these manufacturing operations that create significant multiplier effects beyond the initial job and capital investments. That’s why we invest so heavily to grow and sustain advanced manufacturing in our region."

There is no word yet on when the facility will open.
