Man shoots suspect who was trying to break in through his back door, police say

The man didn't recognize him and fired one round, hitting the suspect in his stomach.

SAN ANTONIO — A man shot a suspect who was trying to break in through his back door, police say.

San Antonio police responded to the 8700 block of Marbach Road, not far from Loop 410, around 7:30 a.m. Thursday for reports of a shooting in progress.

Police say the man told officers a suspect was trying to break into his apartment through the back door and he didn't recognize him, so he asked "what he was doing here," and then shot him.

The suspect was hit in the stomach. After being shot, he went back out and laid on the ground.

He suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital

Police are investigating. This is a developing story.
