The shooting happened just before 2 a.m. on Saturday in the 3600 block of Fairmeadows Street on the city's south side.

Police said the suspects fired shots toward the man, and he was hit in his lower abdomen. The man however pulled out a gun and also fired back, possibly hitting them.

The victim was taken to a local hospital in serious but stable condition.
