One person dies after crashing into a tree at high speed, SAPD says

SAN ANTONIO — According to San Antonio Police, one person has died after crashing into a tree Friday night on the southwest side. 

The incident occurred at the 6900 block of Ray Ellison around 7 p.m. Friday. 

A person was driving a red Ford F250 eastbound on Ray Ellison from Loop 410 when the driver disregarded a red light while accelerating at a high speed through an intersection, SAPD says. 

The Ford lost control rotating the vehicle and striking a tree sideways on the driver's side. 

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. 

No other people or vehicles were involved in the crash.
