Standoff in Lytle ends peacefully with suspect placed under arrest

The Atascosa County Sheriff's Office says that a standoff with a suspect in Lytle ended peacefully with the suspect placed under arrest.

According to Texas DPS, a standoff near Luckey Road in Lytle ended peacefully.

The Atascosa County Sheriff's Office told KENS 5 a man tried to run away from a DPS trooper after he was arrested Friday afternoon.

The suspect reportedly ended up running across the highway and got into an altercation with a trooper responding to the scene.

The sheriff's office said the suspect "headbutted" an officer and ran into a nearby house after he was pulled over and the deputy realized that he had outstanding warrants and tried to arrest him.

People in the area told KENS 5 multiple police officers had their guns drawn.

SWAT entered the home just after 6:30 p.m. and arrested him.

The suspect faces several charges, including assault on an officer, evading arrest, and burglary of a home.
