Video: Suspect arrested after car chase on west side

The 28-year-old suspect is accused of causing three crashes before hitting a spike strip at the corner of Brazos and Colima. Nobody was hurt.

SAN ANTONIO — A suspect is in custody after San Antonio Police say he led them on a chase through the west side in a stolen truck, allegedly causing three accidents in the process.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a DPS trooper was patrolling SH-151 around 1:40 p.m. when he saw a Ford truck with a utility trailer that had both been reported stolen.

When the trooper attempted to pull the driver over, police say he refused to stop and continued on U.S. 90 West before exiting on Cupples Road. Police officials say he then led a low-speed chase through that neighborhood, resulting in three car accidents but no injuries.

At some point a trooper deployed a spike strip that disabled the suspect's vehicle at the intersection of Brazos and Colima. At that point, the 28-year-old suspect was taken into custody without incident.

He has been charged with evading arrest with a vehicle, reckless driving, theft and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
