Tow truck driver stopped at red light stabbed by man who walked up to his truck, police say

The driver was able to drive to a nearby H-E-B and call for help.

SAN ANTONIO — Police are investigating a stabbing attack on a driver at a northwest side intersection that happened early Wednesday morning.

San Antonio Police responded to the 9900 block of Wurzbach Road near I-10 for reports of a cutting.

According to police, a tow truck driver was stopped at a red light near the H-E-B when the suspect approached his vehicle, so he rolled down his window.

Without warning the suspect reached inside the vehicle with a knife and stabbed the victim on the left arm. The victim quickly rolled up the window and the suspect struck the window with his knife.

The victim was able to drive to the nearby store parking lot to call for help. He was taken to University Hospital to be treated for his non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the driver had a passenger with his that was training him on his new job. He was not injured.

When police arrived, they said the suspect also came at them with the knife. The suspect was tazed and arrested at the scene.

He was booked for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
