Shots fired at Culebra Meat Market after man tries to use counterfeit money, police say

Authorities said the suspect fled in a black vehicle down Old Sky Harbor Drive. The suspect is still on the run.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police are investigating a shooting at a meat market on the southwest side Thursday morning.

Police responded to multiple calls about a disturbance with a gun around 10:30a.m. at Culebra Meat Market 3 on Old Pearsall Road.

Police said a man tried to buy something at the store with a counterfeit $50 bill. The staff identified the money as fake and told the man they were calling the police and could not give him his money back.

The man walked out of the store and turned around and fired two rounds toward the building, striking the door, authorities said.

No one was hit with the gunfire but some of the employees were hit with the shattered glass.

The injuries were not serious, police said.

Authorities said the suspect fled in a black vehicle down Old Sky Harbor Drive. The suspect is still on the run.

Investigators will take a look at the surveillance cameras in hopes of identifying the suspect.

This is an ongoing police investigation.

No other information was provided.

This is a developing story.
