A man is hospitalized with critical injuries after being shot in the face when ambushed in the parking lot of a south-side nightclub.
The incident took place around 2:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Far West nightclub in the 2500 block of Pleasanton Road near SW Military Drive on the city's south side.
According to the police, the victim was walking out to his vehicle with a friend when the driver of a gray Chevy Silverado drove through the parking lot and opened fire.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the head.
Police are investigating any incident that may have occurred inside the nightclub looking for a connection to the shooting.
Witnesses on scene told police they do not recall any incident that could have evolved into this shooting.
The shooter left the scene and police believe he may be a risk to public safety.
