SAPD: 31-year-old man accused of multiple sex crimes

One victim tells police she fought the man off with an office chair.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Police say 31-year-old Montre Shepherd is jailed on a $50,000 bond, charged with an attempted sexual assault, but the court documents related to his arrest allege he could be a serial sex offender.

When investigators applied for an arrest warrant they said of Shepherd, they “believe his criminal sexual behavior is escalating and his immediate apprehension is necessary to protect the community."

The effort to arrest Shepherd started one week ago when police said Shepherd gained access to a professional office on Colony Drive in northwest San Antonio.

Detectives said Shepherd got into the building through a back door and when a woman tried to help him, he did provide a name close to his true identity and his accurate date of birth.

The woman told police that when she returned to speak with the man, he locked her in the room, exposed himself and tried to sexually assault her. The affidavit for arrest said the victim tried to use an office chair to defend herself while she screamed for help, and it wasn't until a male co-worker intervened that the man left the office.

Co-workers who helped the woman told police that when they entered the room, they discovered the man had been using a company computer and that he had allegedly opened six pornographic websites while he was in the room. Court documents indicate the police officer who took the report immediately recognized the name the man had used when he asked for help.

The affidavit goes on to allege Shepherd has been involved in multiple exposure cases over the past year, including a recent case at a nearby hotel.

In that incident, the victim told police a man who had walked into a Loop 410 hotel numerous times was found urinating on the floor in a conference room.

The police report related to the incident indicates when an employee confronted the man, he exposed himself to the victim.

The affidavit indicates Shepherd was also involved in another incident in October 2022 that involved a child victim. The documents indicate Shepherd is homeless, but the judge who set conditions for his release from jail ordered full house arrest with a GPS monitor.
