One man dead, another injured after fight breaks out on south side, authorities say

San Antonio Police responded to a call around 2:30 p.m. for a shooting in progress on Grosvenor Boulevard.

SAN ANTONIO — One man is dead from apparent stab wounds and another is critically injured from a gunshot wound after a fight breaks out on the south side Tuesday afternoon, authorities say.

San Antonio Police responded to a call around 2:30 p.m. for a shooting in progress on Grosvenor Boulevard.

When officers arrived they found a 58-year-old man with a gunshot wound. The man was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Police also found another man a couple houses away with stab wounds who was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as Robert Patlan, 27.

Police say the men were inside a home talking about a toddler who was also in the house and it somehow escalated into a fight.

A handgun went off and struck the 58-year-old man who then stabbed the 27-year-old man. The younger man fled the home but collapsed a couple houses away where he died, police say.

The men were both staying at the same home but are not related, authorities say.

Police confirm two weapons were found at the scene.

The mother of the toddler is cooperating with investigators. Police believe she was dating the 27-year-old man.

No other information was provided.

This is a developing story.
