SAN ANTONIO — A man has been arrested after authorities say he stole an EMS unit and led police on a chase through San Antonio.

Around 5 a.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a local hospital after receiving reports of a stolen EMS unit. When EMS began tracking the unit, it was located at Fredericksburg Road and Callaghan.

Officers were dispatched to locate the vehicle and eventually found it and chased it out of West I-10 past Boerne. Kerr County Sheriff's Office deputies chased the vehicle until finally making an arrest at mile marker 517.

The driver was identified as 35-year-old Phillip Perez.

SAPD arrested Perez and booked him into the Kerr County Jail for evading arrest detention with vehicle or watercraft. His bond was set at $15,000.

The EMS unit was towed to the SAFD repair facility and Vehicle Crimes is following up on the case.
