Man shoots four people after getting kicked out of club for fighting, Houston police say

The four victims are all expected to be OK.

HOUSTON — Houston police say a man shot four people Saturday night after security kicked him out of the club for getting into a fight.

This happened around 11:30 p.m. on Washington Avenue between Reinerman Street and Sandman Street.

The club's security and off-duty Harris County sheriff's deputies who were working an extra job had asked two men to leave the club after they had gotten into a fight with each other. Police said the two men left the club but started arguing with security and the deputies outside trying to get back in.

One of the men got into a nearby black Chevrolet SUV while the other continued to argue. HPD said a woman convinced the other man to get into the car to leave. That's when the first man who got into the car started shooting toward security from inside the vehicle before taking off, according to police.

"The fact that they would shoot indiscriminately at a club crowded with people just because they were asked to leave, whether they were intoxicated or whatever, shows that they really have very little regard for the safety of the people around them," said HPD Assistant Chief Wyatt Martin.

Four people were hit by the gunfire, including some of the security staff. None of the deputies were hurt.

The deputies did not return fire due to the number of people in the area, according to HPD.

The four victims are all expected to be OK. Two were taken to an area hospital for surgery and two were treated at the scene by the Houston Fire Department.

Martin described the suspects as men in their 20s. One was wearing a white t-shirt and blue pants. The other was wearing a green shirt and blue pants. If you have any information on the incident, you're asked to contact HPD at 713-884-3131.
