Teen arrested, another gunman wanted in shooting at Florida party that left 10 injured, including Texans' receiver Tank Dell

Video shown at a Seminole County Sheriff's Office press conference Monday shows Tank Dell standing in between the gunfight.

SANFORD, Florida — A 16-year-old was arrested and another gunman remains on the run after a shooting at a party in Florida injured 10 Sunday, including Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell

Sheriff Dennis M. Lemma with the Seminole County Sheriff's Office said in a press conference Monday that the shooting happened at an event labeled as "nobody leaves sober pool party" at Cabana Live in Sanford, Florida, which is near Orlando.

What happened

Two deputies working patrol for the event were at a parking lot close by when around 12:27 a.m. Sunday, they heard shots fired from inside the party.

The sheriff said the deputies immediately ran to the scene but struggled to get inside due to people trying to get out. They eventually made entry through a back door.

Lemma said a security guard already had the 16-year-old shooter in handcuffs and handed him over to the deputies. He has not been identified because he is underage, but Lemma said he lives in Volusia County and had no prior arrests. It is unknown how he got into the event, which was largely geared toward people 21 and up.

In a video shown during the press conference, a fight broke out, which led to the 16-year-old pulling out a gun and shooting before being tackled by a security guard. Moments later, a second person is seen returning fire.

Lemma said the second person who fired back could have done so in self-defense, which is legal in Florida.

Ten people were injured during the shootout, including Dell who was seen on camera standing in the middle of the gunfight. See below.

He, fortunately, suffered non-life threatening injuries, as well as the other nine victims. As of Monday, one of the victims was still in the hospital but likely to be released soon.

Sheriff Lemma said firearms were not allowed inside the building. Ten security guards working the event reportedly turned away multiple people they found with guns, Lemma said.

Lemma said the event made no reference or mention of Dell attending. Dell reportedly told officials he was friends with a promoter who invited him to the party.

Dell is originally from Daytona Beach, Florida, which is around 40 miles from Sanford.

Lemma said Cabana Live leases its location to private parties, but the party where the shooting occurred did not fulfill the proper permit requirements.

The 16-year-old suspect faces at least one count of attempted murder, possession of a firearm and firing a gun in public.

It is unknown if he will be charged as an adult.

Tank Dell's rookie season cut short

In his rookie season, Dell was a major weapon for quarterback C.J. Stroud. He hauled in 47 passes for 709 yards and seven touchdowns. The standout season came to an end against Denver, when Dell suffered a leg injury December 3 against the Broncos at NRG Stadium.
