SAN ANTONIO — With overnight temperatures once again set to plummet into the 20s, the City of San Antonio is taking precautions to ensure its most vulnerable population has a place to go.

City officials announced they were teaming up with local nonprofits to open seven overnight shelters for the homeless population. Transportation is being offered, courtesy of the city's human services department, until 10 a.m. Saturday.

The shelters are at:

  • Church Under the Bridge (724 Chestnut)
  • Corazon at TPC (230 East Travis)
  • Sold Out Believers (1139 Gembler)
  • Sold Out Believers, for women (1802 Guadalupe)
  • Sold Out Believers, for men (9243 Spring Dawn)
  • Our House (2423 Palo Alto Road)
  • San Antonio Metropolitan Ministries Shelter (318 West Cesar E. Chavez)

If any other San Antonio residents need a place to keep warm during the day, the city says they can utilize any library and park center during its regular operating hours. They're advised to bring clothing, supplies and any medication they take. Find a map of those centers here.
