UTSA football schedule released as team enters second AAC season

The Roadrunners went 9-4 last season, but just missed out on playing in the American Athletic Conference title game.

SAN ANTONIO — On a day when San Antonio was experiencing chilly weather suited for a football season, the UTSA Roadrunners learned who they'll be playing in their second season as a member of the American Athletic Conference.

The Roadrunners are preparing for their fifth season under Head coach Jeff Traylor, having finished with a 9-4 record and the program's first-ever bowl game win last year. The 2024-25 will also be one of transition after starting quarterback Frank Harris's departure; he had started under center for the past four seasons. But the team says it's expected to return 16 starters.

UTSA's season kicks off at home when they play Kennesaw State for the first time. A member of Conference USA, the Owls went 3-6 last season. The non-conference slate continues with road matchups at Texas State and Texas – marking just the second time the Roadrunners and Longhorns have gone head to head – before UTSA returns home to play Houston Christian on Sept. 21.

Conference play begins Sept. 28 in Greenville, North Carolina, where the Roadrunners will look to secure a second straight victory over East Carolina. Four of UTSA's final six games will be at the Alamodome, with conference play concluding at West Point.

The 2023 season was the first time in three years that UTSA missed out on playing in the conference championship. Should they end that streak, they'll play in the AAC Championship on Dec. 6.

UTSA finished 7-1 in conference play last season, having recovered after losing three of their first four games of the season.
