Tom Brady on the next QB to win their first Super Bowl: 'I'd pick Josh'

"I like Josh a lot as a guy, as a leader. But you know, he's got to get past the Chiefs," Brady said.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Tom Brady knows a thing or two about winning Super Bowls, so when he recently talked about Bills quarterback Josh Allen being able to win a ring, it sparked an online discussion across Western New York.

Brady appeared on the DeepCut Podcast, where he sat in a barbershop chair and was asked questions. One such question was, who will be the "next quarterback to win a Super Bowl, that hasn't won yet?"

The answer was decisive, at least on camera.

"I like Josh Allen a lot. I think he's ... I'd say, I'd pick Josh. I like Josh a lot as a guy, as a leader. But you know, he's got to get past the Chiefs, and that's hard because Patrick's incredible in the way he leads that team."

Mahomes and the Chiefs have been a problem for the Bills. Three of the past four seasons have ended with playoff losses to Kansas City, including this past January, when the Chiefs beat the Bills 27-24 in Orchard Park.

Allen and Brady crossed paths earlier this year during the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and last October, Brady said he would encourage Allen to run less, pass more, and "maximize" his potential by extending his career.

"I think sometimes he gets used to and he wants to run it because he knows he can gain yards. There's a lot of confidence in it," Brady said on the "Let's Go" podcast, addressing injury risks that comes when Allen escapes the pocket and decides to run down the field.

"But the only problem is, from my standpoint, you're putting yourself in harm's way, and when you put yourself in harm's way, it doesn't take much for someone to land on you to set you back."

Brady, a classic drop-back passer, was one of the more durable quarterbacks in the NFL during his career. He played in at least 12 games in 21 of his 23 seasons.
