Lakers 122, Spurs 119: What the teams said after the game

The Spurs were competitive but it was not enough to halt the losing skid.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs' losing skid extends to a historic 18 in a row after losing to the Los Angeles Lakers 112-119 at home.

Victor Wembanyama finished with 30 points and 13 rebounds. Doug McDermott recorded three points. Zach Collins had 10 points and two rebounds in the loss. Jeremy Sochan had five points and five assists. Keldon Johnson added 28 points and five rebounds. Devin Vassell recorded 13 points.

The Spurs are 3-20 on the season, and will next host the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night.

Here's a sample of what the teams said after the game.

SPURS

Gregg Popovich:

"48 minutes is a long time but tonight I felt better after the Houston game. We had a lot of good things in the Houston game we just were pitiful from three (point line), obviously."

"Second half I felt good. I thought they played a basketball game and they competed."

Johnson

"Just being myself. I just wanted to win. Be competitive. Unfortunately, we are losing right now and I stay positive. Tough times don't last. We worked so hard. We put in so much time looking at film, in the gym and I feel we are right there."

Wembanyama

"We took care of the ball, at least a little bit, not like in the first half. We tried to step up the intensity as well. I don't think it comes down to set plays or tactics. I think it's just playing hard. Playing smart. In the first half, we had neither of those."
