SAN ANTONIO — A baseball player with San Antonio roots has been call up to play with the Houston Astros, according to a report from Astros Beat Reporter.
Forrest Whitley, who was a right-handed pitcher for Alamo Heights High School back in 2016, will be a relief pitcher for the Astros.
Whitley was selected with the 17th overall pick in the first round of the 2016 MLB First Year Player Draft.
In 2016, the 6-foot-7 righty was named to the Rawlings-Perfect Game 1st Team All-America and Texas All-Region 1st Team.
Whitley has appeared at all levels of the Astros' minor league system since 2016. He has pitched for the Sugar Land Space Cowboys in Triple-A since July 2021.
