LinkedIn back online after brief afternoon outage

The outage came one day after Facebook, Instagram and Threads suffered an outage for more than an hour.

WASHINGTON — LinkedIn is back online after an issue that led to an outage Wednesday afternoon on the Microsoft-owned career network.

"Some members may be experiencing issues on LinkedIn. We’re actively working on this and will provide updates as we have them," the company shared on its official status page around 4 p.m. Eastern. Just after 5 p.m., the site was listed as operational. 

Those impacted by Wednesday's outage were shown a page that said "An error has occurred." 

According to DownDetector, a website that tracks outage reports submitted by users, there was a spike in reports about LinkedIn around 4 p.m. Eastern. 

The number of outages dipped around 5 p.m. Eastern and some reported LinkedIn was working for them again. 

LinkedIn's issues popped up one day after Facebook, Instagram and Threads suffered an outage for more than an hour. 

It's not yet known what caused the LinkedIn outage.
