Local non-profit will host vigil for 6-year-old allegedly stabbed to death by her mother

The family continues to mourn the loss for the child.

SAN ANTONIO — The non-profit Eagles Flight will be hosting a vigil for the family of 6-year-old, Hosanna Sancho this Sunday.

On Wednesday Hosanna was allegedly stabbed to death by her mother in a southwest side apartment.

Eagles Flight helps bury abandoned and abused infants, and stepped in to help bury women who have succumbed to domestic violence.

The organization recently celebrated their 10th anniversary and Hosanna Honey Blue Sancho will be the 51st burial they have assisted with.

We spoke with Hosanna's family on Thursday they say Hosanna's mother Nephiteri Sancho was struggling with mental health issues. Hosanna was under the care of other relatives who lived in the same apartment building as Hosanna's mother.

On Tuesday, Hosanna spent the night at her mother's apartment. The next day when they couldn't get a hold of her two cousins went to look for her and that's when the family says they found Hosanna lying in a pool of blood with stab wounds.

The family says they are devastated by the tragic death and want to shine a light on getting help if you're struggling with mental health issues especially if your caring for a child.

The vigil will take place at 3 p.m. this Sunday at Woodlawn Park.
