Daughters of woman hit and killed on a Potranco Road sidewalk asking drivers to slow down

“One second, if they waited one second to turn, it could have saved my mom's life,” said Selina Angel.

SAN ANTONIO — On Sunday, April 21, Graciela Angel was walking on a sidewalk in the 9800 block of Potranco Road, when her family says a car accident pushed one of the cars onto the sidewalk, hitting and killing her.

The family is now asking drivers to be cautious and slow down.

“One second, if they waited one second to turn, it could have saved my mom's life,” said Selina Angel, Graciela's daughter.

Graciela's daughters are left heartbroken.

“We couldn't believe it. I mean, to this day, it feels so unreal. It's just like a bad dream that we want to wake up from,” said Monique Angel.

They say she was the light of their lives, loving, giving, and a ball of energy.

“If you ask anyone who knew her, anyone who was lucky enough to know her, she was always smiling too. Big in her faith, and she was just always making sure that everybody was happy,” said Monique Angel.

Graciela was 52 years old and her daughters say she was planning on retiring next month, after working for AT&T for 25 years.

To help with funeral costs, her daughters have started a GoFundMe, which has raised more than $14,000.

“Nobody plans for such a tragedy,” said Monique Angel.

As the sisters cope with their grief, they are leaning on each other for support.

“She would only say togetherness when we were all together, because that's what made her happy,” said Monique Angel.

They are asking drivers to be more cautions when driving on the roads.

“This could have been avoided, if people just slow down and paid attention,” said Selina Angel.
