'My heart is broken' | Mother grieving loss of daughter and grandson who sparked Amber Alert

The grieving mother is organizing a candlelight vigil Friday night where the presumed bodies of her daughter and grandson were found.

SAN ANTONIO — A mother is still overcome with grief, after the bodies believed to be her daughter and grandson were found Tuesday at Tom Slick Community Park near a ditch easement.

An AMBER Alert had been issued for three-year-old Kaiden Kriger and his mother Savannah, but was cancelled hours later.

"Savannah, loved him with all her heart, all her mind, everything she did, everything for her Kaiden," her mom Nancy said. "Kaiden was her world. My heart is broken in half and I don’t know how to fix it."

Nancy did not wish to share her last name and admitted that she and her daughter hadn't spoken in months.

"She had me, whether we talked or not, she had me,” Nancy said.

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office is investigating their deaths as a murder-suicide. For Nancy, the investigation is leaving more questions than answers.

"I gave birth to my daughter," Nancy said. "I don't believe she could do that. And if she did, what drove her to do this? Why couldn't she know that I was here? Why couldn’t she come to somebody?"

Nancy is organizing a candlelight vigil in memory of Savannah and Kaiden Kriger.

"I want people to know that Savannah is a mother and Savannah will always be a good mother," she said. "Savannah loved Kaiden, and I want people to remember the good in Savannah, not think of her as this monster."

A candlelight vigil will be held on Friday at 6 p.m. at Tom Slick Park. Nancy asks those in attendance to bring teddy bears, which will be donated to the Battered Women and Children's shelter.
