DUBLIN, Ga. — Popular snacks usually line the shelves of stores.
Dublin County Sheriff's Lt. Daniel Lampp says that’s what one East Dublin home looked like as they seized dozens of pounds of candy and chips that look a lot like your favorite snacks Thursday afternoon.
The only difference? The snacks found in the home were all edibles laced with THC.
“It was marijuana, it was THC gummies, ecstasy, some material used in making his own gummies,” explained Lampp.
He says they got a tip from a multi-regional task force that a suspicious package would be delivered to 42-year-old Raphiel Wright's home.
“Mr. Wright obtained the package and we executed the search warrant of the residence,” he said.
Inside the home were 30- 40 pounds of marijuana, shrooms, vape pens, and edible gummies and snacks.
Lampp said they were shocked.
“Like, it was Sour Patch Kids. It comes in a yellow box, it looked identical to the box you'd buy in the store except there was a little disclaimer at the bottom of the box,” he explained.
Lampp says Wright was running a business called ‘The Baked-ery’, complete with a menu and business cards, but that wasn’t Wrights’ only job.
“It was learned that he was a school bus driver for the City of Dublin,” he said.
Lampp says Wright - hired as a bus driver last August - told them he was not targeting children and sold them to adults ranging from ages 20-40 years old.
The Dublin City School District told us Wright did not distribute on school property. They’ve fired him as a school bus driver.
The Sheriff's Office asks parents to pay attention.
“They'll be shocked to know how common it is to get this stuff, and how easy and accessible it is to get this stuff. Just look at it a little closer. Just make sure it's not this stuff that's being shipped in,” Lampp said.
Wright now faces a string of drug charges including: trafficking marijuana, trafficking and possession of schedule one drugs, possession of a firearm, and commission of a felony.
Lampp says more charges are on the way as Wright is still in jail.
