Houston 'Jane Doe' in Smurf shirt may be linked to South Texas

Her body was found dressed in cargo pants and a Smurfette t-shirt. Her long, dark curly hair was pulled back with a bobby pin, but though this Jane Doe was found in Houston, investigators say clues point to the possibility she may be linked to S.A.

On October 16, 2012, the remains of an unidentified female teenager was located in Houston near Walters Road.

Investigators believe the girl died sometime during the month of September 2012. They said she was of mixed ancestry, possibly African American and caucasian, and may have been between 15 and 17 years of age.

This Jane Doe had long, dark, curly hair that was held back from her face with a standard bobby pin. She was found wearing a blue-green Smurfette T-shirt and size five cargo pants.

Forensic experts believe the girl may have been from south Texas.

The type of food that she ate, the type of pollen she was exposed to are more common in the Austin and San Antonio area than they are in the Houston area, and it seems to be consistent that she may have grown up there, said Dr. Sharon Derrick with the Harris Country Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Those with any information regarding the identity of this victim are asked to call the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children hotline at 1-800-843-5678, or the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences at (713) 796-6858.
