Fort Worth fire announces death of Captain

FORT WORTH, Texas — A Fort Worth Fire captain who served for 25 years died at the age of 57, the Fort Worth Fire Department announced in a Facebook post Sunday. 

Captain Thaddeus "Thad" Raven was an exemplary firefighter and leader, the post reads. He also served as the head of recruitment. In 2022, the department hired the most diverse class in its history as a result of Raven's work, according to the department. 

"Captain Raven's legacy with the Fort Worth Fire Department will not soon be forgotten," the Facebook post reads. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this incredibly difficult time." 

Details about a service will be shared later, the post adds. The department did not immediately offer any additional information.
