'It's craziness' | BCSO searching for suspected vehicle burglars who fired off several shots in North Bexar County neighborhood

Deputies said a homeowner yelled out at the suspected burglars before they got inside a white car and fired off several shots.

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — Bexar County deputies are asking for the public’s help in identifying suspects involved in an attempted car burglary and shooting.

It happened Friday morning off Bennington Way in North Bexar County. Deputies said a homeowner yelled out at the suspected burglars before they got inside a white car and fired off several shots.

Deputies said no one was hurt and they believe they fired them off into the air.

Luis Salinas has surveillance video of the shooting and the white car driving away.

“If you’re just firing wild or you know aimlessly, it’s just, it’s craziness,” Salinas said.

He has three children and said he moved to the neighborhood because it is safe.

“To see the videos and to know it happened just a few houses down, uh yeah it was frightening because my kids sleep right here,” Salinas said.

Gus Villanueva said he has lived in the neighborhood for a few years and only recently noticed an uptick in vehicle burglaries.

“There are a lot of kids here too, this is a family street,” Villanueva said. “To hear that, I’m worried about them.”

Many homes on the street have surveillance cameras. Salinas said he installed his camera after his truck was broken into. He added, he will do what it takes to protect his family and property.

“This is Texas so if you’re out there and you’re doing that, it’s just a matter of time before it catches up to you,” Salinas said.
