SAN ANTONIO -- Jayme Jackson says she had a feeling something wasn't right. Jackson had a knock on her front door shortly after moving into her new home on the northwest side. The person on the other side said they were with the City of San Antonio and they were there to check her water.

Shortly after letting them in, Jackson says she knew the person was a salesman and not with the city. The salesman worked for Green Water Technologies and ultimately sold Jackson a water softener system for almost $7,000.

Jackson couldn't pay cash, so the salesman told her Green Water had companies that would finance the deal. Jackson says she asked several times if the company would put a lien on her home. She says the salesman guaranteed her they wouldn't. And, she says she was told the interest rate would be 7 percent.

When the first payment coupon arrived, Jackson says you could have knocked her over. The interest rate was 18 percent.

Jackson says she immediately called Green Water and was told they would check into it and get back with her. She says she has made numerous calls since then and would always get the same answer. A supervisor never called back. That's when she called Eyewitness Wants to Know.

We went by Green Water Technologies and spoke with the office manager, Heidi Escarsega.

Escarsega said sales people are instructed to strictly go by a code of ethics they sign when they are hired. That code requires them to identify themselves as Green Water employees. She says if an employee does otherwise, it is grounds for termination, as was the case with these particular employees.

Escarsega also said at the end of the day Green Water wants to make sure their customers are satisfied with the product and customer service.

She said every prospective customer who is seeking financing is shown a contract that specifically lays out the interest charges.

Escarsega says the salesperson in this case may not have been specific enough, and they may have dropped the ball with customer service. Green Water was more than willing to make that up to Jackson.

In fact, Escarsega called Jackson, as did the finance company, and together they worked out a deal that Jackson says she is pleased with.
